ASID Transform Grant Awarded for Sensory Well-being Hub with HKS Architects

The project "Sensory Wellbeing for Adolescents with Developmental Disorders:
Creating (and testing) a Sensory Wellbeing Hub with a “Sensthetic” approach" has been awarded the 23017 Transform grant from the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Foundation. Ahlquist is a collaborator with the project lead, HKS Architects, serving as a part of the scientific committee, technology development and contributing to the design of a new sensory playscape.

The project seeks to understand the impact of the built environment on adolescents and young adults with developmental disorders, including autism, to improve the well-being of this under-served population. A sensory well-being hub will be developed and tested in the special needs classroom at Lane Tech High School in Chicago.
