Computational Design Pavilion at Autodesk University 2016

The Computational Design Pavilion was installed 15-18 November 2016 in Las Vegas for the Autodesk University Conference. Development of the pavilion was led by Andy Payne and Matt Jezyk of Autodesk. The structure was developed as a collaboration between Autodesk, Sean Ahlquist of the University of Michigan, Quara Stone Company and Paul Kassabian of SGH Engineering. The structure showcases a fluid geometry that is constructed of two very contrasting materials and fabrication methods. The base of the structure is 8500 pounds of robotically carved Indiana limestone, while the canopy is built of a series of lightweight tensile CNC-knitted textiles made of fine nylon-elastic yarns.
